Ideas for Hot Drinks to put in your Thermos for Cold Days

When the temperature outside starts to drop, it's nice to have something to keep you warm and what's better than a hot drink after an after-noon playing in the snow on a Ski-Doo or Cam-Am Off-Road? Here are some ideas for drinks that you can put in your thermos and enjoy on a cold day.

Hot Cocoa with a Twist

Who doesn't love hot cocoa? It's the perfect drink to cozy up on a cold winter day. But why not take your hot cocoa to the next level by adding a few fun ingredients? Try adding a shot of espresso for a little caffeine boost.


Ingredients:

2 cups of milk

1/2 cup of dark chocolate chips

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon cornstarch

Marshmallows (optional)

Cocoa powder (optional)


Preparation Instructions:

1. In a small saucepan, combine the milk, dark chocolate chips, vanilla extract, sugar, and cornstarch. Stir until well combined and the chocolate chips are melted.

2. Heat over medium heat, frequently stirring, until the mixture comes to a boil.

3. Reduce the heat to low and let simmer for about 5 minutes, or until thickened.

4. Serve warm with marshmallows and a sprinkling of cocoa powder on top, if desired



The Classic Autumn Drink

The combination of sweet and spicy flavours makes this beverage perfect for chilly days. This recipe is easy to make at home with a few simple ingredients. Enjoy!


Ingredients:

1 cup of strong coffee or espresso

1/2 cup milk (I used almond milk)

1 1/2 tablespoons pumpkin puree

3/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (or more, to taste)

sweetener of choice ( I used 2 packets of stevia)

whipped cream and cinnamon for topping


Preparation instructions:

1. Make the coffee or espresso according to your preference.

2. Heat the milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until it begins to steam. Add the pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice, and stir until combined.

3. Pour the milk mixture into a blender, add the coffee, and blend until smooth. Sweeten to taste with the sweetener of your choice.

4. Pour into glasses and top with whipped cream and cinnamon if desired



The Gingerbread Latte

This drink is the perfect holiday drink! It's made with rich, creamy espresso and flavoured with gingerbread spices. You can even make it decaffeinated so you can enjoy it anytime during the day.


Ingrédients:

1 shot of espresso

120 ml of steamed milk

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground allspice

1 tablespoon sugar


Preparation Instructions:

1. Add the espresso shot to a latte cup.

2. Pour in the steamed milk and stir to combine.

3. Add the ginger, cinnamon, allspice, and sugar and stir until well combined. Serve immediately and enjoy!
